High Holy Days

At Kol Ami, the High Holy Days are both a time of solemn atonement and a joyful beginning to the New Year. As throughout the year, our High Holy Day services are warm and participatory, blending traditional nusach and cantorial styles with contemporary music. Our services are lifted by the music of our fantastic volunteer choir and our wonderful Cantorial Soloist. Our rabbi is known for his thought-provoking sermons and study sessions.

The Kol Ami community observes two days of Rosh Hashanah. Our second day service – a highlight of the year – involves substantial community participation and creative music. Tashlich, the ritual of “casting away” the sins of the past year, follows the second day Rosh Hashanah morning service.

Family services, held on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur morning, are participatory and interactive and are open to children of all ages. Children are always welcome in services at Kol Ami.
