MEDICAL INFORMATION
Nut Awareness Policy

We have a number of students who suffer from severe nut allergies. Even trace amounts of a problem food can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Please help us maintain a safe community by keeping all nuts and nut products out of the school ( peanuts, walnuts, almonds and all other tree nuts).  Even those food labelled with   “may contain" or "traces of" in the list of ingredients can be harmful.  We appreciate your assistance in making the school safe for every student.

While we strive to be a nut aware facility, we cannot guarantee that your child will not come into contact with products containing nuts.  Every reasonable effort will be made to provide a nut aware environment at Kol Ami. Our Staff, members, and students cannot be held responsible.  The ultimate responsibility lies with the parents and student to ensure their safety. It is therefore important that if your child has serious allergies, inform us upon registration, and provide any necessary instructions and an EpiPen.

Please enter one or more names of people you authorize to pick up your child(ren) after school.

VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Kol Ami is a Kehilah Kedoshah – a Holy Congregation. We are a covenantal community whose members rely on one another, a musical, inclusive and progressive community that strives to help people of all ages and backgrounds find joy, meaning and support through Judaism.

In line with these values, Kol Ami has introduced the Voluntary Community Support (VCS) model this year, replacing our traditional flat fee membership dues. There are many benefits to switching to the Voluntary Community Support model. “Membership dues” are a transaction; VCS is voluntary support of your congregation, to the best of your ability. The Voluntary Community Support model speaks to our value of inclusiveness: there is no Dues Relief process; no questions are asked and no explanations need be given for any level of support.

Sustainer Level: Each year, the Finance Committee calculates the Sustainer Level, which represents the cost of running the congregation on a per family basis. To ensure the success of our vision, we ask that you be thoughtful about your financial ability to contribute and, if you are able, to support Kol Ami at the Sustainer Level. For the 2018-19 fiscal year, the Sustainer level has been set at $3,100 per household.

Sustainer Categories: In recent years, Kol Ami has been blessed to have a number of families who support the congregation at or above the sustaining level. We wish to recognize these families, and with the introduction of the Voluntary Community Support model, we have created the following musically-themed Sustainer Categories. Sustainers are acknowledged annually in a publication. Sustainer gifts can be given anonymously. If you are able, please consider giving at one of these levels.

Shiru L’Adonai (Sing unto God) - $10,000 and up
Shir Chadash (A New Song) - $7,500 and up
Havah Nashirah (Let Us Sing) - $5,000 and up
Shir Halleluyah (A Song of Praise) - $3,100 and up

If you have any questions about Voluntary Community Support please contact Elliot Miller at president@kolami.ca or Joanne in the Kol Ami office 905-709-2620.
