“Selichot” means forgiveness. Selichot, or penitential prayers, are traditionally offered during the month of Elul, the last month before Rosh Hashanah. At this time of year we focus on cheshbon ha’nefesh – a time for personal reflection and for asking and offering forgiveness for the wrongs of the past year.
