Tisha B’Av is the day we mark the destruction of the two B’tei Mikdash (Temples in Jerusalem), the massacre by the Crusades, the expulsion from Spain and every other European country, the Holocaust, the expulsion from the countries of the Middle East.
We mark the grief, the tragedy, the loss, and the eerie timelessness of the laments of the book of Aicha (Lamentations).
This is the day that is the vehicle that contains all our grief – as Jews we do not deny the grief, we provide it with an outlet.
