social action report - september 2013

on Friday, 27 September 2013.

Kol Ami is a shul that has proven year after year that it cares deeply about vital humanitarian causes, both locally and internationally. Tikkun Olam is a huge part of who we are as a congregation and as Jews, and Kol Ami has a rich history in opening its heart to those who need help the most.

Here are some exciting heart-warming projects that you might like to consider as a family, or individually.

OUT OF THE COLD

Help the homeless and less fortunate in our community by

- Donating clean gently used warm winter coats, boots and clothing for men and women

- Donating toiletries and cosmetics

- Giving a couple of hours of your time to help sort clothing at Har Zion

- Helping to cook a meal

- Volunteering to serve and greet guests on the day that Kol Ami takes responsibility for Out of the Cold.

WOMEN’S SHELTER MITZVAH

You can help the Yellow Brick House Women’s Shelter by joining the dynamic team that takes turns each week collecting food from the Thornhill Farmers Market and delivering it to the shelter. It takes less than 2 hours. Contact Rachelle at rhrocky@hotmail.com

DINNER FOR LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS MITZVAH

Our local firefighters risk their lives to save other lives, put out horrendous fires, rescue people from road accidents, dogs from racing rivers and hundreds of other humanitarian acts every day. Kol Ami wants to say “Thank You” to our brave local heroes at Clarke Fire Station. Help us to cook a splendid holiday meal for these amazing men and women. Date for this will be posted soon, but you can sign up now to help plan this wonderful event.
