Kol Ami Teens

Kol Ami is a place where teens stay involved in Judaism long after becoming Bar and Bat Mitzvah!

Our youth group TAKAY ("Temple Association of Kol Ami Youth") is one of the most active and successful Jewish youth programs the Toronto area. Affiliated with NFTY, the North American Reform Jewish Youth Movement, these Grade 8-12 teens get together regularly to have fun, to participate in programs together, and to engage in social action. They elect their own teen board, and plan programs of all kinds for each other throughout the year.

Kol Ami's junior youth groups bring together kids in the lower grades for fun events and opportunities to be together!

Madrichim (Student Teachers) and Teen Learning

Every Shabbat morning, our teens fill the synagogue with their energy and excitement. Part of their time is spent as Madrichim (Assistant Teachers), inspiring and aiding younger students in the classrooms. They are role models and "Jewish Super Heroes" to the children who look up to them.

In our Madrichim program, teens in grade 8-12 will serve as role models and helpers in our Hebrew School as well as continue on their own journey of learning. As part of their leadership journey, Madrichim will benefit from exclusive weekly workshops with guest speakers. These may include clergy, educators, Jewish activists, congregants, artists, and other inspiring voices from the Jewish world.

What Our Madrichim Will Do:

Assist teachers in classrooms (K– Grade 6)
Lead small group activities
Serve as a role model and mentor for younger students
Participate in learning including but not limited to : Social Action, Service leading, Israel, The Holocaust, Jewish Laws

What Our Madrichim Will Gain:

Leadership skills you can take to school, college, and beyond
Service hours for school and college applications
A deeper connection to Jewish life, learning, and community
Friendships with fellow Jewish teens
