Chesed - OUR CARING COMMUNITY

In good times and bad, Kol Ami is a supportive community. We strive to surround those in need with comfort and strength.

Kol Ami is fortunate to have a dedicated group of caring volunteers who make up the Chesed Committee. At different times in life, members of our synagogue may be in need of support due to financial crises, family illnesses, and/or deaths of loved ones. The committee is quietly enlisted to act as extra helping hands for whatever is needed to support our members. Such support could include hospital visits, meal preparation, leading shiva services, and much more.

Shiva Leaders are trained by our rabbi to lead services in families' homes during the week immediately following a death.

Minyanaires attend Shiva as a show of support for their fellow Kol Ami members. It is our goal that the Kol Ami community be represented every night of Shiva.

Mitzvah Bakers bake delicious desserts for B'nai Mitzvah and other special congregational events.

Bikkur Cholim - Our members provide meals and support to one another during times of illness.

New babies are celebrated with visits, meals, and our special "Kol Ami: The Next Generation" onesie!

This committee is a fine example of the Jewish value of G'milut Chasadim, engaging in deeds of lovingkindness, and it is one of the reasons that Kol Ami is such a warm and connected community.
